The goal of Tekevä is improving the individual’s ability to work and function in society through working in a manner most purposeful for both the individual and the society.

Tekevä pursues its ideology by work training and training support services through productive work. Work training is the cornerstone of all the services offered to the Tekevä customers.

Vision

1.3.2007 Tekevä will be one of the leaders in the field of rehabilitation and training through work in Finland, and a valued innovator and developer of social enterprise in the Jyväskylä region.

Communal values

Tekevä communal values consist of the work community’s support for the individual’s success and for good utilization of his personal resources.

Individuality

Individuality is the basis of all Tekevä activity. This ensures that the individual’s training derives from his own needs and from equality.

Adaptability

Adaptability means being able to adapt to different needs and challenges in different situations and in a rapidly changing work environment.

Goal orientation

Goal orientation means conscious effort towards mutually agreed goals.

Responsibility

Responsibility means on one hand being responsible for ourselves, each other and for the well-being of our work community, and on the other hand being responsible for providing the means for working.




The services can be broadly divided into five groups:
  • Work training
  • Rehabilitative training services

  • Expert services
  • In addition to the services Tekevä works on various projects.
Target groups:
  • The long term unemployed
  • People under threat of social exclusion
  • The disabled.
Work training

The emphasis of work training can be one of the following, according to the individual’s situation:

Employment, which is the main goal of the work through training program. Ways of achieving this include improving and supporting the trainee’s vocational capabilities and updating and improving his working capabilities.

Work training for a meaningful life, where the goal is to support and maintain the trainee’s ability to function, his regular living habits and his handling of everyday life through working.

Work training which supports studying and vocational training, whose goal is improving the trainee’s readiness to study and acquiring useful and necessary work experience in various fields of work.

Rehabilitative training services

Rehabilitative training is performed according to the law thereof and its primary target group is young people under 25 who are on employment support or income support because of long term unemployment. Rehabilitative training in Tekevä consists of work training whose goal is for the customer to return to the primary services provided by the Department of Employment and group activities which provide the customer with working life and work training –oriented activities.

The rehabilitative training services of Tekevä can take one of two forms: the foundation’s own training units have 30 customer spaces, and in addition to this, 30 customers are taken into municipal council units and other possible service providers. There is a three member team of experts in charge of rehabilitative training, their expertise being in the fields of health, rehabilitation, guidance and education.

The assisted employment

The goal of assisted employment is to find employment for the handicapped trainees in businesses, using the assisted employment method.

Pomppu - work training for people recovering from mental health problems

The goal of this service is to find the trainee either a work or study placement after he has finished the service. Tekevä provides this service for the National Pensions Institute.

Assessment services

The goal of the work assessment of the trainee is to report on the trainee’s performance of his duties, his adjustment into the working community and working life, and to map the customer’s own views of working.

Group service packages

Group service packages cover a large number of services supporting working, studying and leading a meaningful life. The services consist of single short term courses and longer term courses on dealing with life and work.

Expert services

Expert services involve intensive individual guidance for trainees whose goals are not met by the methods used in work training and group service packages.




Tekevä runs work training at seven sites within productive work. Of these sites four is located The City of Jyväskylä and two in The Municipality of Jyväskylä and one in The Municipality of Uurainen.

The projects are used to develop work training processes for specific groups. The following projects are under way at Tekevä at the moment

The research and development for social enterprise project, Kotivuokko, whose goal is to develop a social enterprise operations model for the Jyväskylä area by the end of the year 2003.

The Kieso, or "Social Recycling" project, whose goal is to organize local recycling services according to the social enterprise model and to create new jobs in the various areas of recycling.

Training young people in the field of construction as training according to labour policy.

The Tekevä car mechanic training project Kytkin, or "Clutch". In this project Tekevä co-operates with Special Vocational Centre in Kuhankoski and Jyväskylä Vocational Institute of Technology. The goal of this project is to avoid being left outside vocational training.

Tekevä also offers the chance for training by apprenticeship.

  • Trainees salaries, gross 55 %
  • - net salaries (inc. unemployment benefit) 14 %
  • Other salaries 10 %
  • Social securities 18 %
  • Rents of premises 9 %
  • Other costs 22 %
  • Depreciation 1 %

The estimated total revenues in 2003 are 3,5 Meur and operating costs 3,5 Meur.
